Description

Browning X-Bolt Mountain Pro Long Range Carbon Fiber Stock - 28 Nosler - 26" - Tungsten - Black w/Grey & Tan Ascents:

Browning is delving into semi-custom rifle production with the new X-Bolt Mountain Pro. What classifies the X-Bolt Mountain Pro as a "semi-custom rifle" is the level of specialized finishing touches and higher end construction above the already top-tier X-Bolt family of hunting rifles. First, the X-Bolt Mountain Pro features a true carbon fiber stock - now lighter than previous versions - making it extremely lightweight and rigid. The stock is filled with a noise-dampening foam.

The Cerakote finish on the stainless steel ction and barrel is also on the exterior of the stock for added protection. The barrel features a new proprietary lapping process to provide consistent accuracy and easier bore cleaning, avoiding the need for a time-consuming break-in process. Other features include a spiral fluted bolt and bolt knob, threaded muzzle with our new Recoil Hawg muzzle brake that reduces felt recoil up to 77% depending on caliber, effectively taming your favorite magnum cartridges.

Carbon Fiber Stock
Lightweight, rigid and super tough, the second generation carbon fiber stock is immune to the elements and flex. It is constructed using a 360 degree carbon fiber weave. A compression molded carbon fiber recoil lug block is bonded to the stock and contributes to the low weight.

Recoil Hawg Muzzle Brake
The Browning Recoil Hawg ranks among the most effective muzzle brakes available. It reduces muzzle jump to keep your target in the scope and has been shown to reduce recoil up to 76% (depending on the caliber). Specially designed directional porting blows gases up and to the sides to minimize dust signature.

X-Lock Riflescope Mounting System
The X-Lock system uses four screws per base, replacing the traditional two-screw system. The benefits are obvious, with the scope bases being secured at all four corners rather than only held at the center of the base. This allows for more accurate placement of the bases on the receiver. This revolutionary X-Lock system holds the base tighter to the rifle than ever before.

Feather Trigger
The X-Bolt's new three-lever Feather Trigger provides a clean, crisp pull with no take-up or creep and minimal overtravel. The trigger is screw adjustable from 3 to 5 lbs. and factory pre-set at approximately 3 1/2 lbs. An alloy trigger housing contains the hard chromed steel components that are highly polished on all critical contact surfaces. Precise engagement angles mean the X-Bolt Feather Trigger feels light and right and stays that way through many thousands of rounds.

28 Nosler:

The 28 Nosler is a 7mm (.284) caliber, rebated-rim centerfire rifle cartridge designed by Nosler. Introduced in 2015 and approved by SAAMI on January 19, 2015. The 28 Nosler is based on the 26 Nosler which was released in 2014. The 28 Nosler shares the same overall cartridge length (3.340) as the 26 Nosler which allows it to be chambered in standard-length action. This feature helps weight-conscious sportsmen to lighten their load before venturing into the backcountry. The cases overall length also aid in quick follow-up shots, since the bolt throw is shorter than on a magnum action.

The name 28 Nosler refers to the first two digits in the caliber (0.284) of the bullets that the cartridge fires and the name of the company which created it.

The 28 Nosler cartridge case can be formed by necking-up or expanding the neck of a 26 Nosler case to 7mm (.284) diameter. The cartridge case for both the 26 and 28 Nosler is based on the 404 Jeffrey case.

Suggested Use:

  • Deer (long range)
  • Black Bear (long range)
  • Sheep / Goat (long range)
  • Moose
  • Elk
  • Buffalo / Bison

Performance:

The 175-grain 28 Nosler has a muzzle velocity of 3,125 fps. The 160-grain cartridge boasts an muzzle velocity of 3,300 fps.

To give some context, at 160-grains the 28 Nosler is around 300 fps faster at the muzzle than one of the most popular round in the caliber the 7mm Remington Magnum.
